Peer Leadership Initiative

Winners Wait is an abstinence-only peer leadership program that communicates the message of abstinence. There is an overwhelming amount of misleading information concerning the issues of sex, healthy relationships, and the consequences of the ill-informed decisions youth make with regard to premarital sex. It is necessary to challenge youth in their knowledge about the risks of sexual activity, its consequences and the power of peer pressure. Since peer pressure is strong among teens, Winners Wait wants to change that dynamic from negative to positive. Through a comprehensive abstinence-only curriculum, young people, trained as peer leaders, champion the message of abstinence until marriage. Winners Wait provides adolescents with life-changing information that helps them to understand and embrace the positive benefits of abstinence and to empower them to make a difference in the lives of their peers, their schools, and their communities.

Some of the Winners Wait responsibilities include:

• Take and maintain a pledge of abstinence
• Assist in the development of and participate in health and wellness community related events
• Serve as a co-facilitator and/or participate in Winners Wait Support Groups
• Attend monthly peer leader's meetings

Peer Leaders will not only have an opportunity to champion the message of abstinence but they will also participate in training sessions including leadership development, effective public speaking, facilitation skills training, computer software navigation, and much, much more. Learn more
